What technical readiness level is expected for Phase I solutions?

This is covered in the topic announcement. We expect an applied approach, meaning the technology may be used in other industries but can be applied to this application without significant modifications. We are not interested in too much sensor development. The key technical objective is to find a sensor or sensor suite that, when applied to the locomotive, can provide useful information about the safety of track conditions ahead of the locomotive. A large proportion of the locomotive fleet is equipped with forward looking video. We are searching for other sensor systems that can provide safety data from this perspective - looking forward down the track.
