Image Requirements
Does the recorded data have to include an image of the scan, or can it just record relevant measurement parameters?

24-FT1 EV Battery cooling and mitigation
the topic talks to "The primary goal of this project is to conduct a comprehensive review and analysis of research and data
related to battery fire issues and design, and then develop a viable or conceptual solution to manage
overheating and mitigate battery fires that may be hardware, software, or both. The product will apply to
any battery packs used on electric vehicles or Battery Electric Buses."Is the focus here on endogenous solutions to improved cooling/fire mitigation or are solutions that go outside the battery system allowable? Are any approaches required to be contained within the battery shell or…

24-PH1- Corrision mitigation
The topic talks about "Prevent, detect or mitigate " corrosion.
Is mitigation limited to chemical processes or are mechanical processes acceptable? Are repair processes concerned mitigation?
Are processes expected to work with the pipeline full of product or can we approach this from a drained/inert section approach?1 vote -
24-PH3 Testing of Cylinders
The topic talks about cylinders and also bulk hazardous material tanks, is there a preferred target storage vessel size? Are we supposed to focus on solutions for DOT Cylinders like K bottles or T Bottles, or is the focus on Tube trailers like a CNG-1 (Type-2) tube traileror a DOT-105/112 tank car?
The Topic mentions hydrogen cylinders, is the focus on Liquid Hydrogen transport and delivery at ambient or cryo-compressed at <600 PSI? Is the expectation that this is targeted at vacuum jacketed cylinders or are we looking at foam insulated tanks? If it's foam insulated will we be able…

24:1 CMV Trailer Stability Sensor
The Topic talks about recording data to an internal memory source, would that be a High reliability, non-erasable source, or is this meant more for engineering/maintenance analysis and 99% reliability and rewrite is acceptable?
The topic talks about notifying the driver, is notification through the CANBUS the only acceptable way? Can we use other methods, such as SMS Text?
The topic talks about measuring sway and lean. Are we allowed to have multiple sensors on the trailer? Can we tap trailer electrical for power, or are we expected to be self powered at all time? Can we generate power internally…

24-PH2 survivability of hazardous material placards
I previously asked "he topic description says in general "Placards are often subjected to harsh conditions during transportation, including exposure to weather elements, chemical exposure, and physical damage". But then, in the specific description of the desired solution, only one environmental factor is mentioned: "The overall solution . . . must be able to survive high excessive heat". Is excess heat the most important factor in evaluating a solution, and is there a quantitative criteria anticipated for the final solicitation? (e.g. temperature and time of exposure)" and a Mr Andrew Leyder replied "Excess heat is a factor in evaluating the…

Questions on 24-PH3
- Can we get a rough geometry and wall thickness of the pressure cylinder?
- On the environmental conditions of the "continuous monitoring": Will that happen on a pressure cylinder stored stationary somewhere in a warehouse or that should be done on a moving transportation vehicle?
- Following the above question, how do the pressure cylinders mechanically coupled to their storage environment?

What are the acceptable "transit agencies" that can participate in Phase I?
24-FT2: Mitigation of Cybersecurity Failures "requires working with a transit agency" to collect data and analyze the most common failure points.
There are many, many organizations that could claim to be a "transit agency." What is considered a valid "transit agency" for this topic (for 24-FT2: Mitigation of Cybersecurity Failures)?
There are non-transit agency organizations such as CharIN (https://www.charin.global/) that are working with National Labs to catalog and classify "the most common [cybersecurity] failure points;" however, this organization is not a "transit agency."
Is it acceptable for a potential offeror to work with a National Lab or with…

Please define "Flex" and what is specifically of interest here?
Is flex referring to deflection in the trailer front versus the trailer rear, twist, or some other metric?

Brake system measurements via inertia
Can some clarification be provided for the sentence "Other mechanisms can be measured by inertia including braking systems and loose wheel carriage assemblies"? It is unclear what inertia based measurements would be used for these items or if there is some predefined inertia measurement procedure for doing this which is being referenced.

Driver Input for trailer load and tractor information?
Would some driver input such as typing in the trailer load or selecting the type of tractor (make/model/year) be allowable? Inputs such as these could be helpful for determining suspension deflection versus expected values under the given loading.

What type of trailer is of interest?
What type of trailer is of interest? Box trailer vs. flatbed trailer? It is expected that the loading and dynamics of these would be different from each other.

Can each path through the turnout be reported-on separately?
As there are two paths through a turnout, there will need to be two separate passes with the trolley to capture each path. Is it acceptable to report the condition of each path separately or is there a need to somehow to combine the two paths into a single data-set? Combining the two paths will certainly increase the difficulty of the proposed project.

Can the 50lbs weight limit be accomplished by dividing the inspection system into 2 parts?
For example, would it be acceptable to have a cart portion that is 50lbs or less and a separate sensor and computing package that is 50lbs or less and the user connects the two pieces once onsite?

Is the specific challenge with respect to achieving cost targets, a single device, or spectrum deconfliction?
Many of the technologies for CDA are relatively mature and products are readily available for integration, such as LiDARs & radars for sensing and a variety of communication solutions (e.g. Qualcomm products). What is the particular aspect of the problem that the FHWA is trying to address? Is it that current technologies are too costly, or that communications are too latent, or that spectrum deconfliction is an issue? Is there a cost target that the FHWA thinks is necessary for adoption at scale?

Vulnerability assessment for operators and passengers (both in transit and processes)
What is the scope of the cybersecurity issue? Cybersecurity threats to the operator and passenger during transactions between the two, or during actual transit (when boarding or exiting) might introduce a long-term, ongoing threat to both.
