An error occurred while saving the comment Lance Decker commented@Girija Subramaniam. I'd prefer a reliable power source. I would also prefer a power source that does not require any maintenance (e.g. changing or charging batteries inside the device).
An error occurred while saving the comment Lance Decker commentedCloud based solution - no preference
Use of an App or Text - There would be safety concerns about using an app or text if the driver is required to use while driving. Notification to an ELD might be a option.
There are no available specs on the FMCSA owned vehicles. These are stock 53 foot trailers of various ages.
Multiple sensors - yes, as you may see fit to gather the information required.

Internal memory - we would like to have storage internally until the information can be offloaded and perhaps memory for the last 24 hours stored on the device so an inspector can download the most recent data from the device to see how stable the vehicle has been.
Notification could be by any means. We would like your input on options. SMS and CAN are good options.
Power - it is expected that you would gather power from the vehicle. Other methods are also encouraged.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lance Decker commentedThe beginning focus is on dry van/box and refrigerated trailers. I could see applications in all trailers in the future.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lance Decker commentedPerhaps. We would want to avoid driver input while moving.
It may be that the installer of the device characterizes the type of trailer and specifications.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lance Decker commentedThe concept is regarding a "slip-clunk" kind of action if the suspension system on the trailer is loose, you might see such a motion. Hard braking perhaps.
