Is the presence of human waste in transit station elevators reducing accessibility?
Equipment, material selection and initial design will either limit or improve better management of the inevitable introduction of human waste inside transit station elevators. Nasty elevators present a denial of service and accessibility for disabled patrons. Routine equipment and approaches can't prevent, detect or address the problems created by this condition. Elevators are expensive, complex, unique and - without proper design and maintenance - will rapidly deteriorate and fail, resulting in premature replacement.
