Should the Discharge locomotive BESS unit be equipped to help to propell the remainder of the train back a safe distance if it could?
Instead of a trailer mounted unit (that may not be able to get to the site of the BESS Emergency) what if a bogie train with 1mwe of electrical power and 1600hp of high low rpm torque from an Advanced Rankin Cycle Engine be also on the bogie to mechanically and/or electrically propel the remainder of the train out of harm's way or off to a spur line?
Also this power could provide more reliable power to fans cooler or chiller. It could also be equipped with this company's IMPACT ABSORBING APPARATUS to prevent "Contributing Cause" emergencies and damage hazards.
