Can we use more than two units, for example, a mesh network?
Can we use more than two units, for example, a mesh network? Also, is there any licensed spectrum or limitations on available spectrums specifically for this train communications?

To answer the second part of your question, it would be advisable to check with the FCC or refer to railroad standards. The FRA does not license the radio spectrums. Available information indicates that the railroads may use unlicensed Industrial, Scientific, and Medical Bands as well as licensed bands in the 450-570 MHz range. As mentioned in the topic description, working with a railroad partner would be a great way to navigate multi-agency regulatory challenges.

The project was never imagined to allow for more than two units. It would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to implement a system that requires more devices than the current industry practice.
